Interactive tools for visualizing charged-particle trajectories in tokamaks

By Henrik Järleblad

The trajectory of a charged particle in a tokamak will change depending on its energy, starting position and angle w.r.t. the magnetic field. It can be difficult to investigate and develop an intuition for how the trajectory changes as a function of the independent variables. This talk will present newly developed, interactive tools that help solve this problem. The tools can be used by both researchers and students, to facilitate investigative analysis as well as for pedagogical purposes. More advanced data is also made easily accessible via the tools; such as poloidal and toroidal transit times, as well as phase-space topologies.
